Hi sweet Olivia, thank you for asking such an important question. Let me explain it clearly.
First, a 12-year-old does not automatically go to heaven just because of age. The Bible teaches that we are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by age, goodness, or religious behavior. But we also know that God is perfectly loving, perfectly just, and perfectly merciful. He knows every child’s heart better than anyone. So instead of living in fear, the right response is to look to Jesus, trust Him, and follow Him.
Second, Jesus is our Savior because He rescues us from sin. Sin separates us from God, and we cannot fix that by ourselves. Jesus died for our sins and rose again, so whoever trusts in Him can be forgiven and brought near to God.
Third, Jesus is not just a High Priest. He is the Perfect High Priest. In the Old Testament, a high priest was a man who represented people before God. He offered sacrifices for sin, but he was still sinful, limited, and temporary. Jesus is different. He is sinless, eternal, and perfect. He did not offer an animal sacrifice over and over again. He offered Himself once for all. That means Jesus is the perfect bridge between us and God. He brings us to the Father, forgives us, and continues to intercede for us.
Now, how do you love God more and know Him more? You do not grow in love for God by just trying to feel more emotional. You grow by knowing who He really is. Read the Bible, pray honestly, worship Him, obey what He teaches, repent when you sin, and stay close to other believers who help you follow Jesus.
When you know God more, several things begin to change. You trust Him more. You become less controlled by fear. You want to obey Him, not because you are trying to earn heaven, but because you love Him. You become more humble, more thankful, more honest about your sin, and more loving toward others. Your heart starts to care more about what pleases God than what impresses people.
But when someone does not know God more, the opposite often happens. God starts to feel distant. Prayer feels unnecessary. The Bible feels boring. Sin feels normal. Fear and confusion grow. A person may still talk about God, but their daily life becomes more centered on themselves than on Jesus.
So Olivia, keep seeking Jesus. Ask Him to help you know Him, love Him, and trust Him more. The very fact that you are asking these questions is a beautiful sign that God is working in your heart. Jesus is kind, He is near, and He is strong enough to lead you.
