The Nature of God the Father
Chapter 2 introduces God the Father, the first person of the Trinity, exploring His nature and attributes. The Bible asserts God’s eternal existence, as seen in Genesis 1:1, where God is described as the Creator present before time began. This foundational understanding of God as eternal sets the stage for a deeper study of His attributes. The chapter delves into “theology proper,” the study of God the Father, focusing on key characteristics that define His essence.

Attributes of God
1. God is Love
God’s nature is fundamentally loving, as emphasized in 1 John 4:8, which states, “God is love.” This love is unconditional, sacrificial, and eternal, demonstrated most profoundly in the sending of His Son, Jesus, to redeem humanity. Because of God’s love, believers are called to love Him wholeheartedly and love others as themselves (Matthew 22:37-40).

2. God is Omnipotent
God’s omnipotence signifies His all-powerful nature. He can accomplish anything, as affirmed in Jeremiah 32:17 and Ephesians 3:20. However, God’s power is consistent with His character; He cannot act contrary to His holiness, such as lying or sinning (Titus 1:2, James 1:13).

3. God is Omniscient
As the all-knowing Creator, God is aware of everything in time and eternity. 1 John 3:20 highlights that nothing is hidden from Him. This attribute assures believers that God understands their needs, struggles, and desires, offering comfort and guidance.

4. God is Omnipresent
God’s omnipresence means He exists everywhere simultaneously. Psalm 139 beautifully illustrates this, proclaiming that there is no place where God is absent. His presence provides support and guidance, no matter where His children are.

5. God is Holy
God’s holiness sets Him apart from sin, making Him entirely worthy of devotion. The Bible calls believers to pursue holiness, striving to live in God’s power and reflect His purity (Leviticus 19:2, Hebrews 12:14). Worship and exaltation are appropriate responses to His holiness (Psalm 99:9).

6. God is Good
God’s goodness manifests in His forgiveness, grace, and mercy. He comforts and provides for His children, even in their darkest moments. His goodness, described in Hebrews 4:16 and 2 Corinthians 1:3, is a tangible expression of His care and compassion.

7. God is Righteous
Righteousness is God’s perfection in moral purity and justice. Humans, by contrast, are unrighteous and deserve nothing but separation from God. However, through Jesus’ sacrificial death, believers are made righteous and can stand justified before God (2 Corinthians 5:21). This act of grace underscores the transformative power of God’s righteousness.

Conclusion
The chapter concludes with a reflection on the depth of God the Father’s attributes. These qualities—love, omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, holiness, goodness, and righteousness—paint a picture of a God who is both transcendent and intimately involved with His creation. 4. 하나님은 편재하십니다
   하나님의 편재(遍在, omnipresence)는 그분이 동시에 모든 곳에 존재하심을 의미합니다. 시편 139편은 하나님께서 어디에나 계시며 그분의 임재에서 벗어날 수 없음을 감동적으로 묘사합니다. 이 사실은 신자들에게 어디에 있든지 하나님께서 함께하시며 인도하신다는 확신을 줍니다.

5. 하나님은 거룩하십니다

7. 하나님은 의로우십니다
   하나님의 의로우심은 그분의 도덕적 완전성과 공의를 의미합니다. 인간은 죄로 인해 불의하며 하나님과 단절될 수밖에 없는 존재이지만, 예수 그리스도의 희생적인 죽음을 통해 의롭다 여김을 받을 수 있습니다(고린도후서 5:21). 이 은혜로운 행위는 하나님의 의로우심이 우리를 변화시키는 능력을 가지고 있음을 보여줍니다.
