✝️ JCC YOUNG ADUTS: FAITH FOR THE WHOLE LIFE
----
✅ More Than Sunday: Faith for the Whole of Life
For the past 10 years above, I have had the privilege of walking closely with young adults in different seasons of ministry.
During seven years at PCC, while serving in children’s and youth ministry, I came to know well over 50 college students and young adults through worship teams, teaching teams, media ministry, administration, mentoring, and teacher training. When I think about those years, my heart still becomes warm.
We prayed together about their futures. We talked about careers, relationships, dating, and marriage. I watched some of them prepare for marriage, build families, welcome children, and grow into leaders themselves. Those experiences taught me that young adult ministry requires much more than helping people attend church faithfully.
There is a significant difference between worshiping God for one hour on Sunday and living a life of worship throughout the week.
When young adults begin making real decisions about work, money, relationships, marriage, family, and calling, Sunday attendance alone cannot sustain them. They need a faith deeply rooted in the Word of God. This is why the teenage years matter so much. Young people need to learn not only Bible stories, but how to meet God in His Word, wrestle with truth, and make real-life decisions from biblical conviction.
And I discovered that the same was true for me.
As a pastor and spiritual leader, I also needed the strength to make difficult decisions before God. That strength did not come simply from experience, position, or ministry skill. I also had to be deeply rooted in the Word.
Perhaps one of the greatest blessings was realizing that I was not simply leading a community. The community was also shaping me. As we worshiped, prayed, served, struggled, and grew together, I experienced the power of Christian community and found myself becoming more mature alongside them.
Now, for the past three years at FKPCC-EM, I have continued this journey with American young adults and second-generation Korean Americans.
Looking back on all these years, I wanted to put what I have seen, learned, and experienced into one simple picture:
Faith for the Whole of Life.
Not simply a faith that brings us to church on Sunday, but a faith deeply rooted in Christ and His Word—strong enough to shape our work, relationships, money, family, calling, and every decision of life.
And we do not grow into that kind of faith alone.
We grow together.
